About me: Hello! I joined the Marywood Admissions team in February of 2021. I earned my Bachelor’s degrees from East Stroudsburg University in 2017 in Political Science, Philosophy, and English Literature. In 2020 I completed coursework on my Master’s degree in English Literature from Seton Hall University where I specialized in Postcolonial Literature. I grew up right here in the Scranton area and currently live in Moscow, PA.
My interests: I am an avid reader. My favorite genres are high fantasy sagas, like J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, and novels that feature strong women of color, such as Chimamanda Adichie’s Purple Hibiscus. Occasionally I try my hand at writing my own stories and poems. Music is also a huge part of my life, as I play flute, piccolo, and all the saxophones.
Favorite thing about Marywood: The sense of community that transcends campus. I grew up around here and even though I was not a student of Marywood, I was still able to participate in many of the campus events. In high school I would frequently perform with different music ensembles right in the Performing Arts Center!
Favorite place at Marywood: Just in front of the Learning Center we have a narrow landing between the stairs. From that point, you can look out to the front of campus toward the arch and over the Memorial Garden. From there our campus’s history is tangible in a profound way! It’s even my favorite place when it’s covered in snow!
You’d never guess: I was a collegiate drum major! During my senior year at East Stroudsburg University I was the head drum major of the Warrior Marching Band and had the opportunity to lead the band at a huge collegiate festival in Allentown, PA. I was even interviewed after our performance and broadcast on TV!
Best advice: Don’t leave your interests behind when you come to college! Whether you played a sport, or performed with your drama club, or played an instrument, or did community service, you can do it in college, too. I continued pursuing music in college even though I was not a music major, and some of my best memories and friends came from those ensembles!
