Admission Requirements

The following list outlines requirements for the MA/MFA programs in Studio Art, Visual Arts, and Art Therapy:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and extensive professional or teaching experience
  • “B” average during undergraduate study or demonstrated potential for graduate work
  • Completed application
  • Essay
  • Official, sealed transcripts
  • Two or three letters of recommendation 
  • After submitting your application, you will be asked to submit a portfolio on CD/DVD or online
  • Special program requirements as noted below*

Special Program Requirements

MA in Art Therapy applicants must have satisfied the following undergraduate requirements:
18 studio credits which must include drawing, painting, sculpture

Master of Arts (MA)

Art Therapy (60-credits)
Studio Arts (36-credits):

  • 3D track: Clay
  • 3D track: Sculpture
  • 2D track: Painting
  • 2D track: Printmaking
  • 2D track: Photography

Master of Fine Arts (MFA)

Graphic Design (60-credit low-residency program) *
Illustration (60-credit low-residency program) *


12 psych credits which must include general, abnormal, developmental
