The Mission of the Marywood University Exercise Science program is to foster learning and growth through excpetional hands-on coursework, laboratory experiences, internships and faculty-led research. The integration of these experiences provides our students with the confidence and skills necessary to being rewarding careers in the allied-health fields or to pursue graduate studies.

Careers in Exercise Science

Our Exercise Science major is designed for students interested in positions related to:

  • Personal Trainers
  • Strength and Conditioning Coach
  • Exercise Physiologist
  • Health fitness instructors with hospital-based and corporate fitness programs
  • Graduate studies in Exercise Physiology
  • Post-graduate studies in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, or Physician's Assistant programs.

About the Degree

Marywood University Exercise Science degree provides students with expertise in acute and chronic changes to the body with exercise, requiring coursework in anatomy, physiology, chemistry, microbiology, exercise science, nutrition, research methods, disease prevention, and exercise testing and prescription. The degree culminates in two semesters of practicum experience, providing students with hands-on experience in their future careers.

Our faculty members have expertise and undertake research in Biomechanics, Clinical Exercise Physiology, Exercise and Sports Physiology, Environmental Physiology, Immunology, Kinesiology, and Sports and Injury Rehabilitation.
