Nursing Program Admission Requirements
Undergraduate Program (BSN) Requirements
Basic Requirements for Admission to Marywood University:
In addition to the completed application form and fee, the candidate to be considered for admission must send to the Office of Admissions the following information:
- Prior to March 2016, a minimum of 1450 (combined) on the SAT, with no single test score below 480 (or an ACT composite score of 21 or higher).
- After March 2016, a minimum of 1040 (Evidence based reading and writing plus math sections) SAT, with a minimum of 530 in the math section.
- One letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor, teacher, or other person familiar with the student’s academic background.
- An official high school and/or university transcript with an indication of class rank and/or QPA.

Meet SAT/ACT requirements -Direct Admit in and maintain a QPA of ≥3.0 and a C or better in all cognate and a C or better in all nursing courses. |

Do not meet SAT/ACT requirements-will be admitted as undeclared interest in nursing but need to achieve a QPA of ≥3.0 by the end of the second enrolled semester and a C or better in all cognate courses to be admitted into the nursing major. Once in the major, students need to maintain a QPA of ≥3.0 and a C or better in all cognate and a C or better in nursing courses. |
Do not meet QPA requirements-will need to remain in current major or transfer to undeclared interest in nursing until a QPA of ≥3.0 met. If transferring into undeclared interest in nursing, students need to achieve a QPA of ≥3.0 and a C or better in all cognate courses to be admitted into the nursing major. Once in the major, students need to maintain a QPA of ≥3.0 and a C or better in all cognate and a C or better in all nursing courses. |

*Note Internal Transfer students, at the completion of either the Fall or Spring semester; must submit to the Nursing Department the following:

To progress to the Nursing Major courses, the student must:
- Have the required physical ability to perform in the nursing profession.
- Achieved a QPA of ≥3.0 and be admitted into the nursing major (students in the category of "Undeclared, Interest in Nursing" are ineligible to take nursing courses)
- Complete the following cognate courses or their equivalent, with a minimum of “C” or better
BIOL 121, 122 Anatomy & Physiology* 4,4 BIOL 114 Microbiology* 4 CHEM 121 Principles of Chemistry* 4 ND 112 Nutrition 3
*Lab Required
One additional cognate course is required which must be taken prior to nursing research (N353) with a grade of "C" or better. This is:

NOTE: The cognate courses fulfill many of the liberal arts requirements for the nursing major.
***Once admitted to the major, students must maintain a QPA of 3.0 or higher and must achieve a "C" or better in all nursing courses.
