Build an Exciting Career with a Construction Management Degree

Housed in the School of Architecture, Marywood's new Construction Management Program offers you the opportunity to learn about buildings and construction alongside students from Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Business. These partner programs closely mirror the collaboration found in the profession and will enable you to collaborate with others who steward the built environment from idea to execution. You enroll in a full curriculum of Construction Management courses along with Business and Architecture courses to become uniquely prepared to tackle the profession's most complex challenges as you learn the professional knowledge of construction and the roles and values of the other partner professions.

Build Together: Building-based, management-focused, Construction Management program in a collaborative learning environment with partner programs that take a building from idea to execution.

Marywood University’s Construction Management program focuses on buildings and the business and logistical management of their construction. The program emphasizes ‘inter-professional education’ in which Construction Management students learn along side architecture, interiors, and business students to discover the roles and values each profession brings to the design, financing and construction of a building. This experience mirrors the collaborative dynamic that exist is in the real-world of building development and execution yet few other Construction Management programs offers this learning environment. Our integrative curriculum uniquely connects business practices, construction knowledge, emergent building technologies, and design practices. We teach core professional construction management competencies alongside design/build practices, sustainable construction principles and novel problem-solving skills to prepare our graduates to address complex situations in the construction profession.

With a Construction Management degree from Marywood University, you can apply your knowledge to a range of areas in the industry. A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management prepares graduates to manage complex projects in the construction industry. Construction Managers plan, budget, coordinate, and supervise construction projects throughout every step of the process. They work with all members of the team, from designers to contractors, to fulfill client needs and positively contribute to the built environment.

Your Job Prospects Are Great!

About 34,700 openings for construction managers are projected each year, on average, over the decade. The best job opportunities will be open to those with a bachelor’s degree in construction management, coupled with construction experience.

Salary: 

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of construction managers is projected to grow 8 percent through 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations. That growth percentage is even greater in the eastern half of Pennsylvania, particularly NEPA/Lehigh Valley. Those with a bachelor’s degree in construction management, coupled with construction experience, have the best job prospects. The median annual wage for construction managers was $97,180 in May 2020. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $56,880, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $169,070.
