Multiple Submissions
When a funding source permits only a limited number of applications from a single institution and more than that number of investigators may be interested in submitting, the following occurs:
- Distribution of the funding announcement with a clear statement that there is a limit to the number of applications that will be approved and a due date for submitting abstracts to Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP).
If more abstracts are received than permitted, the following occurs:
- If from the same academic unit, the appropriate Dean is asked to select the applications to go forward.
- If the abstracts come from different academic units, they are distributed to affected Deans to determine if a consensus may be reached on which applications to support.
- If they cannot reach a consensus, the Assistant to the Provost for Research and Sponsored Programs makes the selection. If appropriate, the Provost may be consulted.
