Michael Prebola '24
Michael Prebola ’24 is designing a future that the greatest architects would marvel at.
Hailing from Tunkhannock, Prebola said Marywood’s proximity to his hometown definitely played a part in his coming to Marywood, but the deciding factor was the feeling of belonging so many generations of Pacers have been privileged to know.
“When I first came to view (Marywood), I immediately fell in love with the atmosphere of it,” said Prebola.
To Prebola, that atmosphere is created by the people who call Marywood home.
“My favorite thing about Marywood would have to be the people. From the faculty to the students themselves, they really make me feel at home.”
As an architecture major, Prebola has already learned a great deal.
“Marywood is teaching me a lot of key skills and techniques so that I can become a well-rounded architect,” said Prebola.
He hopes that one day this knowledge will allow him to attain his dreams of being a residential architect with his own firm.
The welcoming and supportive atmosphere that drew Prebola to Marywood is proving to be one in which Prebola can thrive. While Prebola may one day design buildings that scrape the sky, his academic accomplishments and involvement on campus have already reached lofty heights.
“My greatest accomplishments since I have started at Marywood would be getting Dean’s List multiple times, as well as joining the Student Alumni Association (SAA).”
Through his dedication to his schoolwork and to serving the community, Prebola is living Marywood’s core values both in and out of the classroom.
Despite his pride for these accomplishments, Prebola said the greatest gift Marywood has given him is friendship.
Through SAA and volunteering for events, Prebola has had the opportunity to meet several alumni and friends of Marywood. He pointed to Alumni Weekend as the experience he enjoyed the most.
“I had an amazing experience with the (honor year classes),” said Prebola. “To hear all of the stories of what they did in college, I was so proud to be a part of that group.”
Prebola was thankful for several of these opportunities in part because they allow him to meet donors who help to make the dream of attending Marywood a reality. Prebola is a recipient of the President’s Scholarship, for which he is very grateful.
