Jeffrey Johnson, D.M.A.
Jeffrey Johnson, D.M.A. became Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) in July 2020. Before his appointment at Marywood, Dr. Johnson was the Associate Dean, College of Arts and Sciences, and Professor of Music at the University of Bridgeport [Bridgeport, Conn.]
Dr. Johnson’s distinctive career at the University of Bridgeport began in 1998, and his experience includes service as both a faculty member and academic administrator, including Director of the Music Program [1998-2016]; Director of First-year Seminar [2006-2010]; Retention Specialist [2012-2013]; Assistant Provost for Student Success [2016-2018], and Associate Dean, College of Arts and Sciences [2018-2020].
Acclaimed by students for his high-energy teaching, Dr. Johnson was named Distinguished Teacher of the Year in 2002. He earned his teaching stripes at the Boys Choir of Harlem, where he served as Associate Director of Artistic Education [1994-1998].
A published author and recognized expert in his field, Dr. Johnson’s first two books drew upon set theory and graph theory from mathematics to develop compositional possibilities in music. His more recent scholarship, resulting in the publication of two additional books, explores historical features of performance practice. Dr. Johnson has reviewed classical music for The Boston Globe, Stamford Advocate, Hartford Courant, and Greenwich Time. Additionally, he serves on the board of the Greater Bridgeport Symphony. He has been a regular broadcaster on WMNR Fine Arts Radio [Monroe, Conn.] since 2015, hosting a three-hour program, Sunday Morning Classics, and curating the long-running program, Evening at the Opera, on Tuesday evenings.
Dr. Johnson earned his D.M.A. in Composition from Boston University [Boston, Mass.], and he holds an M.A. from the Eastman School of Music [Rochester, N.Y.] and a B.S. in Composition from Ithaca College [Ithaca, N.Y.].

Shelby W. Yeager: Interim Dean
On behalf of the faculty and staff of the College of Health and Human Services, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our website. The College offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders; Nutrition and Exercise Science; Nursing; Physician Assistant Studies; Psychology and Counseling; and Social Work. Additionally, we house a state-of-the-art Exercise Science Lab.
Our faculty are committed educators and researchers who will go the extra mile to help you attain your educational goals such that you will be prepared for the future you envision. In the College of Health and Human Services, learning takes place within as well as outside of the classroom. Students are encouraged to participate in service-learning trips, study abroad, become involved in athletics, attend or participate in the various cultural events on campus, as well as to collaborate with faculty on research projects that are bounded only by your interest and imagination.

College of Professional Studies
James Sullivan, RA, AIA
James Sullivan, RA, AIA, is the dean of Marywood's College of Professional Studies.
Most recently, Mr. Sullivan has served as dean of Marywood's School of Architecture, the first and only architecture school in Northeast Pennsylvania.
Prior to coming to Marywood, Mr. Sullivan served as an associate professor and chair of the Department of Interior Design at Louisiana State University (LSU).
Mr. Sullivan earned his bachelor of environmental design degree from Miami University of Ohio, and a master of architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a licensed architect in New York State with a broad range of experience as a practitioner, educator, and administrator in both architecture and interior design.
Mr. Sullivan began teaching architecture at LSU in the fall of 2000 and gained academic administrative experience as the undergraduate program coordinator for four years at the School of Architecture. He also gained valuable experience working in partnerships with interior designers in New York City for ten years prior to moving to Baton Rouge, while running his own firm, the Louisiana Architecture Bureau, located in Baton Rouge.
