Joanne Mattera - painter/author, represented by OK Harris Gallery, NYC, author of The Art of Encaustic Painting

The Marywood University Art Department's Distinguished Visiting Artist Lecture Series will present a lecture by Joanne Mattera, painter, author, curator, and blogger, on Monday, April 20 at 3:30 p.m. in Media Room 160, Learning Resources Center. A reception will follow in the Shields Center for Visual Arts, where attendees will have an opportunity to speak with Ms. Mattera. Both the lecture and reception is free and open to the public.

Ms. Mattera , international painter, is represented by numerous galleries throughout the country, including OK Harris, New York; Adler, San Francisco; and Marcia Wood, Atlanta. In addition to her successful painting career, Ms. Mattera is the author of the foremost contemporary text on the ancient process of encaustic painting, curator of numerous important group exhibitions, and the publisher of one of the world's most widely read art blogs. An artist whose generosity is well known throughout the contemporary art world, Ms. Mattera will bring her breadth of experience to Marywood University with a lecture and discussion regarding the "ins and outs" of building a career in the visual arts.
