Volunteers in Action (VIA)
Volunteers in Action (VIA) is a club for students interested in community and on-campus service. Students gather with others who have similar interests, learn about and sign up for service opportunities, and assist with planning events sponsored by the club. Everyone is welcome.

Student Racial Healing Circles

Fair Trade Coffee
Fair Trade Coffee is available year-round in Campus Ministry.
Our coffee comes from San Lucas Mission in Guatemala, where our students have gone on service trips and helped pick coffee beans.

Thanksgiving Adopt-a-Family Project
Help a family in need by providing all the fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner. This project is in partnership with United Neighborhood Centers.
Our Thanksgiving Adopt a Family Program will look different this year! Because we are not able to make and deliver baskets we will make a monetary donation to United Neighborhood Centers. They have been our partners for over thirty years in helping us make and deliver our baskets!
If you, your roommates, your department, club, or organization is interested in participating in this holiday project, please send your donation, (cash or check made out to MU Campus Ministry), (with your name, email and department) to Sr. John Michele, Campus Ministry, in the Swartz Center for Spiritual life by Monday, November 11th.

Rice Bowls
Pray, Fast, Learn, Give - Pick up a Rice Bowl in any Campus Eatery or outside the Marian Chapel. Look for donation bowls around campus! Donations will be sent to Catholic Relief Services for people in need overseas and at home.
All donations will be sent to Catholic Relief Services to fight hunger and poverty around the world. Thank you for helping our most vulnerable brothers and sisters during this Lenten season.
KIDSTUFF
This annual mini-carnival is for children ages 4-8 who are served by United Neighborhood Centers and Friends of the Poor.
The children are invited to campus for an afternoon of games, activities, entertainment, and food. Nearly 25 student clubs and organizations sponsor games and activities, and

Anyone interested in putting together an Easter basket for a local child should take a tag, prepare a basket with

on campus or off-campus and have an outstanding record of service and leadership. - Have an exceptional scholastic record and have attained a cumulative QPA of 3.50 or higher.
- Be willing to accept membership, knowing that acceptance is a commitment of personal responsibility for future service and leadership in
church , - Undergraduate students must also have attended Marywood for the last two years.
- Candidates for this award will be Seniors who have demonstrated "joyful, loving, hospitable and self-emptying service to the people of God" (IHM Mission Statement) during their undergraduate studies at Marywood University.
- Candidates will have exemplified the words of St. Paul (Phil. 2:3-4): "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better. Let each of you look not to your own interests but to the interests of others."
Maxis-Gillet Service Scholars
In addition to providing a variety of service opportunities, Marywood University extends this commitment to community involvement through its Maxis-Gillet Service Award, named in honor of the founders of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother Theresa Maxis, IHM and Father Louis Gillet, CSsR.
A total of twenty $2,500.00 Service Awards are offered annually to full-time undergraduate students, including up to five first year, full-time undergraduate students who already have demonstrated outstanding service to the community and dedication to sustain that service while enrolled at Marywood.
Maxis-Gillet Service Scholars are expected to participate in a minimum number of weekly community service hours and to assume a leadership role in community service activities coordinated through the Campus Ministry/Community Service Office. Candidates for this award must have already applied and been accepted to Marywood University.
The Maxis-Gillet Service Award is offered on a yearly basis through a re-application process for up to four years. Contact Campus Ministry to learn more about this opportunity.

St. Catherine Medal
The St. Catherine Medal is awarded to one Junior each year that exemplifies service, leadership, and scholarship. Applicants must have made the Dean's List at least once.
Kappa Gamma Pi
Purpose
The purpose of the Kappa Gamma Pi Society is to strive for a high standard of personal Christian excellence, service, and scholarship among members; to encourage individual and group initiative and participation in local and national church and secular affairs; and to awaken a spirit of Christian leadership among the undergraduates of Kappa affiliated colleges and universities.
About
The Greek phrase Kappa Gamma Pi stands for Catholic Women Leaders. The original name has been retained because of its importance in the Society's History. However, both non-Catholics and men are welcomed to the membership of Kappa Gamma Pi each year.
The motto of the Society is Faith and Service. Membership in Kappa Gamma Pi is a promise for the future, to continue in service to church and community. Members are chosen because they have already demonstrated this commitment, and are expected to continue in this leadership role after graduation.
Eligibility
Both Undergraduate and Graduate students graduating in December 2020, January 2021 or May 2021 are eligible to apply. Applications and Endorsements will be accepted until February 15, 2021. To qualify for membership in Kappa Gamma Pi, a nominee must:
Marywood University nominates 15-20 inductees each year.
Once the committee has had the opportunity to review all applications, we will meet to select this year’s nominees. Kappa nominees and their families and friends will be invited to the installation ceremony in April.
The ROBERT E. QUINNAN MEDAL FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE IN THE ALPHONSIAN AND IHM TRADITION
The ROBERT E. QUINNAN MEDAL FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE IN THE ALPHONSIAN AND IHM TRADITION, founded by Mrs. Catherine G. Quinnan in memory of her husband, recognizes a student completing an undergraduate degree who has demonstrated humble, unselfish service to others in the spirit of St. Alphonsus Liguori and the mission of the IHM Sisters.

Community Service Approval
Any group or individual must submit a description of any service project or idea at least 2-4 weeks prior to the planned date of the project.
Approval is required before any arrangements are made. This is to ensure that service projects are not duplicated and that each project receives support and guidance from the Office of Service-Learning and Community Service in order to be most successful.
All submitted service ideas will receive an answer within 1 week from the date of submission.

Clearances to Complete Service
Some community service agencies require volunteers to complete a PA State Police Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Clearance. Typically, agencies require copies of the three clearances listed below. Be sure to have your Social Security Number available when you begin the process.
