Professional Counselor Licensure Preparation (LPC) Program

Licensed professional counselors help clients identify goals and potential solutions to problems which cause emotional turmoil; seek to improve communication and coping skills; strengthen self-esteem; and promote behavior change and optimal mental health.  Counselors possessing the professional counseling license have a wider variety of employment and scope of practice opportunities including private practice and supervision.

Admissions Requirements

 

Internal Applicants (current students):

 

Schedule a meeting with Dr. Muse-Burke
Review the educational requirements for the LPC program
Determine a preliminary course of study

 
Submit a free online application for the Counseling Licensure track http://www.marywood.edu/admissions/applying/
Request Marywood Graduate transcripts (see attached transcript request form)

The Pennsylvania licensing board requires that applicants hold a minimum of a 48-credit masters’ degree.

Submit the required supporting documents
All college transcripts (including transfer institutions)
Two letters of recommendation (electronic option available online)
Essay detailing personal experience and professional goals (upload online)

 
Follow up with Graduate Admissions after completing items above
Verify the application is complete and sent to the Counseling review committee
Timeline for the departmental admissions review is typically 2-4 weeks
